AM: 5 mile walk. Listening to a book called Four Thousand Weeks: Time Management for Mortals and it confirmed that I'm already doing things right.

Slept until 6 this morning after seeing Jason Isbell last night at Red Butte Garden. Probably be the last time.

Ann and I went up to Park City to escape the heat like we used to do all the time when the kids were little. Had brunch at the Loco Lizard, went for a short hike on Rob's Trail, and browsed around Main St. for a while.

PM: Walked 4.5 miles.

Why the last time? I am still trying to see him for the FIRST time!

Jason Isbell plays Salt Lake a lot. Often twice a year and he used to play small bars in town with the Drive By Truckers as well. I feel like I've watched him grow up over the last twenty years. The show Saturday just seemed like it was missing something. Maybe it's just me? I certainly appreciate him and his talent but I'm tiring of the relentless sadness of all his songs

I hear you. I take it you have listened to the new album? Oof. Hits hard. More than sad, maybe. Kind of anxiety producing when you have kids, particularly with "Save the World," though I guess those concerns have been on my mind for a while.

Correct! The new album is great in so many ways but that doesn't necessarily mean that I want to spend a summer evening at a beautiful outdoor venue listening to songs about school shootings.
