I had some success in high school and college. Winner 1985 Rod Dixon Run 

Had a fair amount of success as a Masters runner for most of my 40s. 

Short-Term Running Goals:

Have fun with running, explore more trails, stay healthy.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Keep running and racing consistently for as long as I can. Find what is sustainable for me over the long run.

Personal:

I teach AP European History and other courses at Alta High School. I coached the track and cross country teams at Alta for 16 years.

I feel an oncoming cold and I lifted pretty hard so I'm going to skip the usual Turkey Trot tomorrow. Hate to do it!

Update: Woke up this morning feeling a little better, just a little sore from the lifting. Think I will give the Turkey Trot a try later...

That was fun! I haven't run for two weeks due to the sprained ankle which is still pretty weak/sore. Took the first mile easy in 8:01 and my ankle did not like the steep uphills and downhills at all. I wasn't able to take advantage of the downhills. The second, flatter mile was more agreeable and so I turned in a 7:14 and enjoyed passing a lot of people (this is a big race). The third mile has lots of gentle downhill which felt really good and I did a 6:36.

Finished in 22:05 and had 3.05 miles on my watch. I was surprised I won the 55-59 age group and so I took home a huge Costco pumpkin pie for my efforts.

Very happy I chose to suck it up and do it. Had good chats with several old friends, parents of former runners, and co-workers. Turkey trots are the best.

Everyone is home. Ann worked in the ICU last night so is sleeping now. We'll have dinner later than normal. Abby is home complaining (a little) about peeling potatoes. Andy is working at the grocery store untill early afternoon.
