So we were discussing the most influential Americans of all time in class today and a student got mad at me for saying Jesus wasn't an American.

This afternoon I took to the roads and ran a quick 4.25 miles.

I hope you don't lose your job over that. So who is the most influential in the eyes of the professor?

Actually I'm not sure whether he was mad at me for saying Jesus wasn't am American for me laughing at Jesus being on his list.

I need to be more sensitive and gentile in my corrections.

I would go with Bruce Jenner as a track and field guy.

"Jesus" is very American, but Jesus was not an American. Maybe that is what he meant. Eh, maybe.

I am always careful with students who offer "interesting" responses, but it is often difficult. A former professor used to say, "In fact, you're 100% wrong. But the good thing about that is you can say the opposite of what you said and be 100% right." But the look on students' faces!

You sound like a good teacher Jason. I would say I need to be more careful with students who offer "interesting" responses.

I would say that beginning with the Second Great Awakening we have done a good job of Americanizing Jesus.

He was a capitalist you know. And a Republican.

But I have college students, whose responses have been tempered by four years of high school :-)
