Short race report for now.

I'm so thrilled with how I ran today. I had no idea going in what I could run since I haven't raced and my training has been inconsistent.

Took the first three miles easy - 19:00 at 5k. Then I ran 58:54 for the last ten miles which was great. I ran every mile right at 5:55. This is the third straight year I have finished second in this race to three different guys. This year it was Grey Augustus from Idaho Falls who got me by about two minutes I think.

Justin Park ran 2:26 to win the marathon. He really looked good. Jeff Shadley was under 2:40 to finish second.

Great run Rob! That's some going off limited training. To bang out 58:54 for the final 10 miles is awesome. That's gotta get your juices flowing.

Great race Rob! I am glad you felt good out there and it sounds like you ran a smart race.

Great race, Rob! You ran smart out there and showed yourself that you still have some racing fire in you.

Thanks for a great time in Poky with our families!

Jon - where are your results from yesterday?

From Rachelle on Sun, Sep 02, 2012 at 18:17:50 from 66.7.127.115

Rob I am not sure how I missed you yesterday. It would have been nice to meet you in person.

Did they deny you of your free bear again this year?

From Rachelle on Sun, Sep 02, 2012 at 18:18:26 from 66.7.127.115

Beer! Not bear haha although there may have been bears in that canyon. :)

From Dave S on Sun, Sep 02, 2012 at 19:00:12 from 63.248.248.225

Great Job! Nice to meet you briefly at the finish. You looked strong on that last straight away when you passed me while I was only running 5k.

From Rob Murphy on Sun, Sep 02, 2012 at 19:09:16 from 24.10.249.165

Rachelle - Ha! I had forgotten about that. No, I actually got my cold 10 AM post-race beer this year. Very un-Utah.

From RAD on Sun, Sep 02, 2012 at 20:32:07 from 98.202.23.178

Nice job out there Rob! I too am glad you got your post race beer with no trouble from the ID peeps this year. Like Rachelle, I wish I would've known you were there and could've met you in person!

Congrats on the race! Did you get anything better than the water bottle the full marathoners won? That was probably the most disappointing part of the race for me. Cruddy prizes for winners!

Great race Rob! You decided what's next yet?

From Steve on Fri, Sep 07, 2012 at 09:55:13 from 66.87.64.24

I was stoked to hear that you ran this. It's interesting to note that if you ran a full effort half right now, you would probably come close to your PR. The years of quality training have built a pretty good base. Most importantly though, I see a good R2R2R run this October!
