Easy run around downtown Sugar House, through the tunnel, around the park, and back home.

Blah! Thinking of a new approach to my training.

I just signed up for a race called the "Jupiter Peak Steeplechase". I thought it would be 3000 meters with some water jumps but apparently the trail running community has appropriated the word and in that world it means "a long race up and down a mountain" as best as I can figure.

So I'm going to start training for this. I will do a mix of real running and trail running. Some guy named Rob Krar won last year in 1:45 which seems really slow for 16 miles. I think I will destroy him if he shows up again.

PM: 3 miles of trail running in the rugged foothills east of Salt Lake City. Started growing a beard along the way.

Some guy named Rob Krar, ha ha!

Exactly! He'll never amount to anything. I know I can average 6:33 pace for 16 miles on a training run.

Jupiter Peak is a fun one. Rob Krar ran in 2012. Oh and he just won a random race called Western States.

Western States?

No big deal, just some little race they put together that 100 miles long! Now you can really run the gully with us!

Jupiter Peak is only 16. My speed, honed by years on the road and track, will give me the edge.

And I don't want to hear anything about how he ran a 1:05 half.

You will LOVE LOVE LOVE Jupiter! :-)

Seriously, it's a FUN race! :-)

(And it does wonders for your -- "your" in the general sense of the word not you individually -- butt!!! :-))

You'll have a great time. :-)

I believe that Coach will win!
