Beautiful morning. Perfect race conditions. Raced fairly well but tucked in behind a runner from Ogden High School on the third mile when I should have pushed it a little harder. Fourth master I think behind Mark, Sasha, and Dennis. I know Dennis ran 17:30, not sure about Mark and Sasha.

2 mile warm-up and 7.5 miles in the gully on the way home.

Correction...Sixth master behind the guys I mentioned and some guys I've never heard of.

Congrats on going under 18:00.

I would love to be able to do that again someday.

Nice strong race Rob!

From Sasha Pachev on Sat, Jul 18, 2015 at 12:40:02 from 66.87.126.21

Craig Green ran around 16:41, then Dan Crooker around 17:10, then Mark 17:21, and me 17:22. The geriatrics research subjects group was competitive today. Congratulations on a solid time!

Over 50 and under 18. Sweet. Nice job.

Strong race! Nicely done!

From Drew on Sat, Jul 18, 2015 at 18:35:55 from 173.171.218.92

Nice time, Rob. At 50 you would win a lot of Florida 5ks flat out.

From Jon on Sat, Jul 18, 2015 at 19:03:14 from 107.203.52.135

Sub 18 for sure. Nice job.

From Jason D on Sat, Jul 18, 2015 at 19:24:05 from 68.80.27.222

25 seconds faster than two weeks ago. Keep rolling!

Everyone - thanks for the encouragement! That's why I love this blog.

Good race Rob. Seeing so many masters running again makes me want to shake off the dust and do some road racing.

From Matt Schreiber on Sat, Jul 18, 2015 at 22:18:58 from 66.17.112.31

Stupid "official" results! :-)

If you had shaved your head and worn shorter shorts, that would have got you at least two seconds. In any case, seems like you are on a nice trajectory.

From Rob Murphy on Mon, Jul 20, 2015 at 18:54:31 from 24.10.247.181

Shorter shorts - not possible.

From Jon on Mon, Jul 20, 2015 at 19:29:42 from 107.203.52.135

[desperately trying to scrub brain of picture of Rob in shorter shorts]

From Rob Murphy on Mon, Jul 20, 2015 at 19:35:48 from 24.10.247.181

I got me a pair of BOA American flag shorts. Ordered the "large" but I'd hate to see the smalls.

From Jon on Mon, Jul 20, 2015 at 20:07:07 from 107.203.52.135

My ugly green short shorts are size 36-38 waist. My normal waist size is 32. That's part of the fun- at any time, a gentle tug or whiff of breeze could send them falling. Gives you incentive to run faster.

From Jake K on Mon, Jul 20, 2015 at 20:12:16 from 98.202.128.218

I have the smalls. I found that you can't wear them hiking, or in any situation where someone could potentially be looking up at you. Or at any point where you are more than one ounce above ideal racing weight.

From Rob Murphy on Mon, Jul 20, 2015 at 20:13:22 from 24.10.247.181

Or, realistically, in any situation if you had an ounce of modesty.

From Jake K on Mon, Jul 20, 2015 at 20:15:16 from 98.202.128.218

True point. I haven't worn mine in over two years.
