Interesting to browse the blogs of the Utah kids going to Foot Locker next weekend. You have Conner Mantz ( the fastest Freshman and Sophomore in Utah history) worrying about working too hard with a 40 mile week and then you have all the East High kids running from 70 to 100 mpw with regular interval running as well.

Definitely some radically different philosophies. It will be interesting to see how it turns out next Saturday. Personally, I would never have a high school runner run over 70 mpw and never over 50-55 mpw during the competition phase. Especially on a 6 day/week schedule that most of my runners do.

100 mpw definitely seems high during high school. Your 70 mpw limit seems pretty good. Good luck to Conner.

Jon - I wish I could claim Conner as one of my Alta runners but, sadly, he lives in Logan and runs for Sky View. My #1 runner, Kramer Morton will be making the trip though.

I'm really looking forward to seeing how it plays out... I hope Kramer, Mike, and Conner all put the smack down on everyone else! We have some FAST high school guys on this blog.

I'm not up to speed on Utah cc kids, apparently. Good luck to all of them!
