Rob, you've been doing the coaching thing for a while. Just curious, how often are DQs overturned in xc?

Who was DQed and why?

There was some hubbub at the state meet in the 3A girls race. I'm not sure that anyone knows what happened?

?=. I'm merely looking for some precedent in the situation. The alleged violations were for going off course--a few specific cases, not gobs of girls misunderstanding the markings--and were overturned.

That is one interesting thing that we haven't really mentioned yet VIs. People were acting like it was everyone, so they had to put them all back in. They have the specific girls (I think 4 total between the two incidents) and it was in the 5th race of the day! If everyone was going off course because it was marked so bad, why did it only come up in the 5th race of the day?

Now I wish I had been there so I could better comment. I stayed at school until 7 pm Wednesday because I can hear the meet from my house and I was suffering from major depression because I didn't have a team there!!!

Obviously, if they ran off the course and ran a shorter distance, they should be disqualified. If they backtracked and ran extra distance, then no.

I remember when Shalaya Kipp was disqualified in 2008 for rolling her shorts up after finishing 2nd in the 5A race. Lots of anger over that one! She made up for it by going on to run in the Olympics.
