Eight miles in 60 minutes on the treadmill at the gym. I took the whole day off for the state meet today and since the state course is walking distance from my house, I'm going to hang around here until the bus drops my team off at the park. My assistant coach will ride the bus with the team.

Looks like our run of seven straight years with perfect weather for the state meet will continue.

My boys ran well today at the stet meet - finishing seventh, but only three points from fifth. My #1 runner, Sophomore Kramer Morton, ran 15:56 to finish 9th and win all-state honors. Then I had Tyler Ross in the low 16's and my #5 runner came through in 17:05. Usually those times are good for third or fourth place, but Utah cross has become so dang fast...

My girls finished sixth which was a bummer. Had about a 3 minute spread between #1 and #5 which ain't good. Freshman Whitney Paskins laid everything on the line to win, but ended up with 3rd. Can't fault her for that. Senior Carolyn Webber, who has been money in the bank all season, ran 19:14 to finish 11th. I have so much admiration for her as a runner and as a person.

I'm drained. Oh, good to see Jake and Andrea from the blog out cheering for my team. I really appreciated that.

Now to focus on my Grand Canyon Rim-to-Rim-to-Rim run with my buddy Steve Anderson on Saturday. Gonna head down in Steve's RV on Friday and do the run on Saturday. Last year's run with Jon and Cody was so great that I can't wait to share it with someone else.

Good luck today!

The day you go to the gym is the first day in two months that I didn't go to the gym before work. I don't know what that means.

Good luck to your teams!

Wish we lived in SLC and could go to a few meets. High school XC is one of my best memories ever.

Have a great trip, sorry I had to back out but I really feel that I was not ready for the run and have a Dr. appointment on Friday to see what is up with my gut.

Good job at the meet. I hear ya on the speedy kids these days. Someone posted at the Florida milesplit site that four years ago there were a total of 20 boys sub-16 in FL, and already this year there are more than 40. Gotta love it.

Good luck with R2R2R - crazy fools!

Rob I was able to get a handful of pictures of your girls finishing the race, then my camera batteries died, so I didn't get any of the boys. I'll upload those and send them to you tonight.

Have fun at R2R2R this weekend!! I hope this becomes an annual thing because I think I have Andrea convinced that its a great idea and we should do it (and/or the Trans-Zion run) next year.

I'm amazed at how FAST Utah high school cross country is. What a great atmosphere too.

You should definitely try to send a few of your kids to Foot Locker - that's an experience they will never forget. A few stand-out performances on your team as well! I have to say, little Kramer is so cute. You could tell he was super embarrassed by your puberty comment! haha

FYI - Jake has not convinced me of anything regarding R2R2R. I'm willing to join in for the after-party food binge. Have fun this weekend!

Andrea, you definitely gotta do R2R or R2R2R. Run of a lifetime.

Have fun and be careful, Rob. Don't run suicidal-y fast down the north rim in the dark or anything- that was soooo last year! Remember, keep eating and drinking and take 1 s-cap per hr.

Congrats on the Cross teams Rob - well done!.

Enjoy the R2R2R - and be safe. Save some energy to show me how its done next year.
