I had some success in high school and college. Winner 1985 Rod Dixon Run 

Had a fair amount of success as a Masters runner for most of my 40s. 

Short-Term Running Goals:

Have fun with running, explore more trails, stay healthy.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Keep running and racing consistently for as long as I can. Find what is sustainable for me over the long run.

I teach AP European History and other courses at Alta High School. I coached the track and cross country teams at Alta for 16 years.

AM: 2.25 mile walk plus core workout at the hotel.

PM: Easy 6.5 along the Boulder Creek Trail. Nice urban run with lots of fast runners. Still not as nice as the trails around the lakes in Minneapolis.

Only got two powerful whiffs of weed along the trail. I was expecting more.

I smelled some while walking to a restaurant in Denver called Vine Street. Thought of the Skynyrd tune "That Smell".

You ran the wrong race on the 24th. Just some food for thought: Your long run last week of 20 miles was at the same pace as the winning master of the marathon. Your medium distance and occasional long training mixed with some good speed endurance of the last three months would have made for a solid run. I predict with the heat you would have run around 3:05. Top five, in the money, masters win, and buried the Des News experience from last year. Now I'm not one to look back at races but I do have experience looking back at race day knowing I should have picked a different race. Plus I know you wouldn't run a marathon with a goal of running a 3:05. Just my voice here, but I think you should pick a good Fall marathon, like mid October, and run a 2:50. Bury the marathon hatchet on that note.
