Have fun with running, explore more trails, stay healthy.

Keep running and racing consistently for as long as I can. Find what is sustainable for me over the long run.

I teach AP European History and other courses at Alta High School. I coached the track and cross country teams at Alta for 16 years.

Eight miles in 60 minutes around Sugarhouse Park.

Knees hurt. Foot hurt. I sure would love a pain free run.

Small victory tonight at Andy's baseball game. He built no sand castles in the infield! Not that there's anything wrong with sand castles just that there's a time and a place. I've had a hard time getting this through to him.

Last week I took him to a Bees game and spent a long time pointing out to him how the fielders concentrated on the game and other finer points of baseball. I asked him if he had any questions and he said "yeah, can I go ride the train".

LOL! I coach my sons T-Ball team. I told my wife that teaching the game of baseball to a group of 5 & 6 yr olds is only slightly less mentally taxing than teaching calculus to a pack of lemurs. I feel like somebody needs to release an "It gets better" web video for parents of young children playing youth sports. ;)

I would not teach my kids baseball. In fact, I would go to great lengths to make sure they are unaware the sport even exists!

Unless they just wanted to play home-run derby. I have a long enough attention span to tolerate that :-)

Jake - whenever I hear someone admit publicly that they don't like baseball I just shake my head sadly and see it as one more example of the decline of this once great nation.

I will pray for you and for our country.

Seriously, two things happened to baseball which was once unrivaled as our #1 sport - both related to TV.

1. Baseball doesn't televise as well as other sports. A camera can't capture the entire game.

2. Television destroyed our attention spans.

I spent 7 years sucking at baseball, but love everything about the game. I'm lucky I grew up before soccer siphoned off all the kids from baseball. I'll watch any baseball game and enjoy a state of peace and nirvana. When my baby was small last fall, he was mesmerized by the sound of Buck and McCarver calling the LCS and World Series. Long live baseball!
