Ten miles in the concrete suburban jungle of Sandy Utah with some of my distance runners.

I'm going to do some quality runs this week but also reduce my mileage a little bit. I want to focus on rest, recovery, and getting a little extra sleep.

You've been running strong all winter so far - we've got 9 weeks to go until Boston... lots of time. I think you're right - making sure to get the proper amount of rest and sleep is so crucial at this point, as the intensity of the workouts gets ratcheted up a bit.

I'm glad I don't have any responsibilities and I can sleep as much as I want :-)

I wonder what would be harder. 60 miles in a week with 3 hrs of sleep/night or 120 miles in a week with 12 hrs of sleep/night. For the 9 hours of extra time being awake let's assume you are watching TV or even better, reading running books. Knowing myself I think the 60 miles with 3 hrs of sleep would be more tiring.

smart move, rob. enjoy the down week and the sleep.

120 w/ all the extra sleep would be a breeze. its amazing how quick the body can recover if you sleep a ton! lack of sleep for 1-2 nights isn't the end of the world, but it can catch up to you really quick if you are training hard
