UTAH STATE XC CHAMPIONSHIPS TODAY!!!

Great race - Kramer Morton won the 5A state championship in a new 5A course record time of 15:13.2

My other runners and their times and places were...

24. Brad Biggs - 16:36

37. Conner Anderson - 16:49.5

38. Jacob Crosby - 16:49.8

42. Pasha Gledhill - 16:55

Team time of 1:22:24 - good enough for fifth. Not bad, but we'll do better next year as we have Kramer and a lot of other guys back.

By way of comparison and to illustrate how the bar has been raised in high school running, our team time today would have won the UTAH state championship in 2004, 2006, and 2007 and been runner-up in 2005.

Next year we will run 2 minutes faster.

Runnercard has almost live results

Jake -15:13 - not bad hey? We had a talk before the race and decided that Kramer would run a conservative race the first 2.5 miles and not worry about any course record times this year. Just win. He looked really comfortable the whole way and was well in control.

From Jake K on Wed, Oct 17, 2012 at 17:09:52 from 174.232.133.189

Great strategy , especially considering his finishing speed. To me, XC is more about winning than chasing times... That's what track is for. To be state champ is something he will have forever... And 15:13 is still FLYING on that course!

Congrats to your whole team!!!

Thanks everyone.

It's easy to look like a good coach with a runner like Kramer.

From Jake K on Wed, Oct 17, 2012 at 19:53:21 from 67.177.11.154

Its also easy to get a runner like Kramer to come in say, 10th place @ states. It takes something a lot more special, a great relationship b/w athlete and coach to accomplish what you BOTH did today. Knowledge, trust, and a strong kick all come into play :-)

Jake beat me to it. Really good young runners can really mess up if not for really good coaching - well done, Rob... and Kramer. Congrats!
