Interesting article in the Salt Lake Tribune this morning on the impending death of the Salt Lake Marathon. Apparently Scott Kerr and the entire staff have resigned. Chris Devine poisons everything he touches and never deals in good faith. Too bad... Salt Lake supported the race and deserves better. One reason why I am leary of for profit races like Rock n Roll or Ragnar and anything by Devine Racing.

Just read the article. I hope they take it off the circuit for 2012... there are a lot of other good races that would easily fill the gap.

Thanks for mentioning this. This gives me plenty of time for a back-up plan if this marathon is not held this year. Too bad Ogden is full.

If it goes away I hope something takes it's place but not necessarily a marathon. I think Salt Lake still deserves a big event and the Des News doesn't exactly fit the bill. Maybe the SLC Classic 10k will come back.

It's really too bad for people from out of state who registered and bought plane tickets.

A bunch of the StG guys ran the "new" course for the Painter's half this weekend - seems like they added a bunch of hills and made it a lot slower! Enjoy that one!

Why would they do something like that?

To balance out the aided-ness of their marathon?

From Rob Murphy on Mon, Dec 19, 2011 at 21:35:10 from 184.164.102.88

That sounds about right. I'll do the race anyway because I need something to keep me motivated.

what's wrong with a few hills? just an excuse not to set a pr.
