21 miles in 2.5 hours on the treadmill. Yes, I said treadmill. Because I'm muy loco.

First day of school tomorrow the beginning of year 16 in the classroom. Sometimes I wish I had started teaching in my early 20s like most of my colleagues. Then I'd have about 25 years in now and would be pondering retirement. Of course I would never retire at 52, but it would be nice to have the option of collecting a nice pension and continuing to work.

I'm always excited about the first day and have always said that if I wasn't then I would have to look for another line of work.

My girls cross country team should be excellent - possibly one of the top 25 in the U.S. Of course Marc Bloom  doesn't know than because he's not nearly as plugged in as he thinks he is. Oh well, we'll sneak up on everybody like my 2008 boys did.

Love the treadmill as an option for the long run on really hot days - but not that often !

Enjoy the first day at school - my girls start tomorrow too.

long run on the treadmill? Wow- and such nice weather there! Good luck with school and the cross country season. Sent you a (long) email, by the way.

"Sweet fancy Moses"? Is that something your grandma used to say?

No Jake, honestly, Ann worked last night so I was home with the kids. She gets home at about 8 AM and goes to bed. So I waited for her to wake up at around 1 PM and by then it's like 96 degrees and windy and I just didn't feel like running 20 in that. So I went to the gym where I can park my gatorade right next to me and watch a lot of Sports Center.

You get a lot of wierd looks at the gym when you're doing 2 1/2 hours on the treadmill.

Jon - is it about Ron Paul? And are you mad at me?

Ahhh, at 1pm that totally makes sense! The longest I ever did on the treadmill was 20 (about 8 years ago) and I think I lost 8-9lbs during the run!

You are going to have a HOT first week of afternoon XC practices!

21 on a treadmill sounds miserable.

Yes, and No, not at all.

There will be a day when I can run that far on a treadmill. Can't imagine it now..

Sweet run!
