14.25 miles on the trails at Alta and Snowbird. Started at 7 AM so I could be done before my cross country runners arrived at 9.

We Murphy's are thinking about a quick over night getaway before school starts so I'm checking lodging options. Do any of you find it hilarious the the Ogden Utah Hampton Inn has a "romance package"?

you are a great example to your runners. my coach used to drive next to us in a creepy van while engaging in demotivational yelling and spewing nutri-grain bar crumbs from his mouth.

Thanks Allie! My wife laughed out loud when she read that.

Rob does the same thing after he finishes his run. That's why he starts early. :-)

If you would like a step up from the Ogden Hampton Inn, Teren and I stayed at the Hines Mansion in Provo. There was a package that included tickets to the Hale Theater and dinner at The Chef's Table. Unless your getaway includes your kids . . . then you might want to stick with the Hampton Inn! We loved it. There's also a package that includes a couples massage . . . also awkward if the kids are involved.

Thanks Emily, it does indeed include the kids so the number one priority is an awesome pool. I want to go somewhere cool but I don't want to drive too far or spend much money.

KSL sometimes has some good local stuff on their "last minute" travel deals

At least it's better than the Ogden Motel 6 romance package

When I lived in Oregon, mine used to send us off for six mile tempos and then slnk back into his office and watch football videos.

As far as the getaway, You can do better than Ogden.. How about dinner at Maddox restaurant in Fruit Heights and then maybe an overnight camp out in the mountains watching the meteor shower?

There's lava hot springs, if you want to drive a bit!

That looks like a good run today Rob. You are back. How about you do the get away next weekend at the Baugh Motel and my kids can play away the day in the pool with yours while Ann reads a good book. We can sit on the side and discuss nothing.
